Greetings from Podanur! Today we finished up painting the Special Care unit; it was such a rewarding feeling having finally completed our project! We painted the first floor and the second floor, the second floor was harder to paint seeing as it is the extra special care unit, so the children are quite a bit more disabled than the children downstairs. Some sights are more difficult to see, but we felt that by painting their room, although it was a small change it brightened their home, and the soothing blue created a happier environment. Leah + Leah created a beautiful mural to spice up the front lobby, the mural contained three “phanty’s” (as Helen previously mentioned in her post.) The mural contained a nice floral pattern around the phantys, and there is a tree with our names on it, so special care will be reminded of those who painted their home. The afternoon was spent hanging out with the kids, and babies, which is always a ton of fun!

After our fun filled day, we went out for a nice buffet, Indian style! Which was recommended by Sunbeam and the Barbara’s (thanks ladies- it was a great meal!)

With our take off so soon, it’s hard not to think about saying goodbye, although we don’t want to- it will be hard to say the least. But we all know without a doubt, we’ll be back soon!

Keep well, see you all very soon, lots of love!!!

Alex, Mark + Catherine

PS!!! “Phanty’s” are elephants- thanks for your imaginative skit Helen!

PPS. Hi Mags, Maureen, and Caroline! We love you!

PPPS. Hi Derek, Paul, Andrew, and Clive! We love you too!

Congratulations on a job well done everyone! It is a wonderful way to leave your ‘thank you and goodbye until next time’ message to the children and staff at this special place. We know it must be difficult to believe you are home soon. Not so for us…it’s been pretty quiet around here without you, Leah :) ! The mural sounds sunny and cheerful, a reflection of the spirit you brought to FFC. Please do send a photo if you can!
Enjoy your last few days everyone…and happy travels!
    We love you, Leah! xoxo

    Namaste to all,
Looking forward to seeing all the photos from your projects and side trips.
I thought this was a nice quote to contemplate on your journey home.
    “You must be the change
You wish to see in the world”
    Mahatma Gandhi

Mr B, we seem to be having trouble connecting via hotmail or telephone so here is your pre-trip home update; you are now the only Brickell outside of the country. I have not been able to change my schedule so you arrive to no personal greeting party on Friday and will be coming to pick me up on Saturday! Sorry about that.

    Hi all!
Thanks for taking the time to write again, as I’m sure you want to spend every last minute with your new “family”. We are all anxiously awaiting your return and to hear the stories and see the pictures of your grand adventure up close and personal. I love the description of the mural Leahs! I hope, as Kalla said, someone remembers to take a picture of it. I also loved your “phanty” story Helen! I know this has been a service trip, but I’m sure you all feel you’ve received a lot more than you’ve given. Also, if we haven’t mentioned it before, thank you, thank you, Ms. Prevadello and Mr. Brickell for making this trip happen…our kids couldn’t be in better hands. Safe travels to all of you.
    Best, Caroline (Mom) xoxo

For all of you this must be a very conflicted day. On the one hand looking forward to getting home. On the other, tearing away from those you have learned to care for and who, in turn, love you,
Here is a suggestion for what it is worth. How about all getting together to put on a slide show when you get back, where each of you present your best/most meaningful pictures and tell us what you took away from your stay and the unforgettable highlights for you. Each of you will have things in common but a slightly different take on other things.
You would be able to talk about your friends, old and new. And we at home would have the pleasure of sharing the pictures we have been dying to see.
How about Out of India as a working title????
But in the meantime have a safe flight home to a cool TO.
