David Hamilton is the Principal of the Upper School at The York School, an International Baccalaureate, K-12 school that offers all three IB programmes: PYP, MYP and Diploma.  The York School is situated in downtown Toronto, Canada.

David has led the Upper School since 1999, the year of our first graduating class.

Before coming to The York School in 1995, Mr. Hamilton worked as a litigation lawyer in Guelph, Ontario. On the strength of a B.A. in Philosophy and History (Trent) and his Master’s degree in History (Queen’s University) he has taught both Diploma History and the Theory of Knowledge course.

In addition to the 320 children in the Upper School, Mr. Hamilton has four children, two of which are at university, to keep him busy. For fun, he plays basketball with just about anyone, including his children, students, teachers and members of The York School alumni.
