Even for a newbie like me, I can tell this is really thoughtful analysis. The novelty hasn’t worn off – as long as I don’t have to listen toadvertising, I’ll keep my ears open!

Great take on the song! I never really listened that closely to the lyrics, I just enjoy A7X orchestration and the way the 2 guitarists work together. They have a very unique approach to point – couterpoint music, and use liberal amounts of overdubs to achieve their sound. For each rhythm guitar part Zack and Syn record each track 3 times using 3 different amplifiers to get the wall-to-wall tone that permiates this album. Each amp has a different tonal presence that completes the whole.
The orchestral parts were written, composed and directed by 2 members of the 80s New Wave band Oingo Boingo (of whom Syn and the Rev are big fans). When Syn finished recording the solo on this song, the string players and music directors who were at the studio were blown away saying it is the most insane guitar solo they have ever heard. It rocks! He is an incredibly talented rock guitarist with chops for days.
Great to read the review. Keep up the good work and always keep your ears open.

Yeah, I hadn’t thought about the lyrics too much either until I started listening to them alot….like…obsessivley. And (though I am extremley interested) I wasn’t sure if people in my grade (who will probably be the majority of people reading this) really wanted to hear about the songs background in any form of intensity…but thanks so much! I didnt know any of that!
Syn and Zacky are ridiculous – it just comes to that. Thing is, I dont think Syn gets nearly enough time in the video for this song – you see him going for about a second before they go to one of those dove/tarantula things (cool, but not as much as possibly one of the best guitar solos in existence). Thats so wierd though about the amps – its synced (sp?) so well.
Yeah syn is pretty much my idol (correction, Johnny Christ is my actual idol but its not my fault there are no bass solos). And M. Shadows seriously does have one of the best voices in the industry, and the Rev is pretty much responsible for Little Piece of Heaven, which pretty much makes him God in my books, so…..they’re all so good. I could go on for pages.
Thanks for the comment tho! I’ll update soon.
    Will do ;)

I MUST find the “making of” DVD for this album. It is somewhere in my house. It shows all about the making of the songs from concept to fruition. There is a great scene that deals specifically with the solo in this song.
